Kala talao is located a Kilometer to the north of  Kalyan west railway station. It covers 24 acres and varies in depth from 6 to 14 Feet and has its sides lined throughout with broken basalt masonry. It is also known as Shenale lake. The name of the lake is traced to a bird called Shen, whose feathers shone like gold after bathing in the pool. Kala Talao is historical place, there is history behind this Talao. Kala talao was one of the first and oldest community Lake in Kalyan.
