MAHANT GHASIDAS MEMORIAL MUSEUM

Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum or Raipur Museum is Raipur’s prized possession. Set up by the Rajnandangaon Ruler, Raja Mahant Ghasidas, the museum cradles an astounding collection of ancient artifacts in the form of sculptures, pottery and exquisite artworks made of metal and stone. Shortly after the construction of this museum, Lord Cunningham from the Indian Archeological Service team found the remnant of Sirpur in Chhattisgarh which was instantly domiciled here as part of the institution’s valuable exhibits. Located in an idyllic and serene environment, the museum is surrounded by beautiful gardens and lawns beautified by life size sculptures. The art gallery in one corner gives the museum an impressive appeal. It also houses a natural history section along with a folk art section where regular workshops are held for artisans and laymen.
