Baba Balak Nath also known as Paunahari or Dudhadhari, is a Hindu deity known as the most gracious god in Hinduism. He is known as the incarnation of Lord Kartikeya in Kali Yuga. Baba Balak Nath is known as the "merciful (one who forgives all the sins)" god incarnated in Kali Yuga.

  • There is a platform for female devotees opposite the main cave for darshan (sighting of the idol). Female devotees are not allowed to enter the inner sanctum.

  • Shorts, mini-skirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low-waist jeans and short-length T-shirts are not allowed.
  • The weather is cold throughout the year. Rainfalls and snowfalls often occur there. one should wear proper winter clothes with mufflers and gloves. An umbrella is also a must to carry.

Architecture

Baba Balak Nath Temple is a cave temple located on the top of the Graner Hill of Dhaulagiri range. The temple consists of several statues of Shiva along with a picture of a blessed child. The temple is an architectural wonder and is carved out of a beautiful hill.

Religious Significance

Baba Balak Nath was a baby born to the wife of Rishi Vyas who gave refuge to a parrot Lord Shiva was determined to kill in her stomach. The parrot apologized to Lord Shiva and promised to come out of hiding only if Shiva gave his blessings. Lord Shiva turned him into a human and the baby this human had came to be known as Baba Balak Nath.
