The temple is having an idol of Lord Sumatinath which is made of white Marble stone and installed on two feet height pavilion which looks so much attractive. It is dedicated to the 5th Tirthankara named Sumatinath.

Architecture

Bhandasar Jain Temple is a three-storey temple, famous for its beautiful leaf paintings, frescoes and ornamented mirror work. This temple was constructed using red sandstone with beautiful paintings and yellow-stone carvings on walls, pillars of the sanctum and mandapa. The temple consist of garbhagriha, antarala, mahamandapa, and ardhamandapa. The sanctum is pancharatha (five rathas) is covered by shikhara having karna-amalakas and amalakas at top. Detailed paintings can be seen on the pillars and walls of the mandapa and sanctum or pancharatha. These paintings have been adorned with gold leaf patterns. The marble pillars of Bhandasar Jain Temple are decked-up with floral arabesque pattern and events reflecting the lives of the 24 Jain Tirthankars. The walls and the floorings contain beautiful dancing images of maidens and multi-colored floral designs. Imported porcelain tiles adorn the linings of tower of the second floor and the main alter. There are a number of chambers containing the idols of other Jain Tirthankars and deities. The mirror-work is the highlight. From the carved balconies of the temple, enjoy mesmerizing views of the surroundings. The ground floor of the temple possesses a white marble statue of Lord Sumatinath perched on a silver throne atop a 2 feet high pavilion. The sandstone pillars in the ground floor of the temple are embellished with beautiful sculptures.

History

This temple was constructed by Bhandasa Oswal in 15th century. Bhandasa Oswal, a Jain merchant in the year 1468 A.D. was started the construction and was completed after his death in 1514 A.D.
