Architecture

The main idol of Narasimha swami is located in the cave that the cave is filled with water and darkness all over the cave. There is a water fountain outside the temple, in which people bath before entering the cave. The water in the cave is around 3-4 feet deep and is infested with Bats and Insects and devotees have to wade through this water to seek the darshan of Lord. At the end of the cave there is roughly carved image of Lord Narasimha on a stone wall. To make the devotees free from suffocation, proper ventilation and electricity are provided through the Aerators which are installed in the cave which pump fresh air into the caves canal. Due to lack of space, only 8 people are allowed at a time to take darshan while the others have to wait in the water.

Religious Significance

After killing Hiranyakashipu Lord Narasimha came to this cave which is the home of Jalasura, to kill Jalasura. As Jalasura is the devote of shiva he requested Narasimha swami to stay in the temple and to bless the demons, as the lord accepted the request and he is visible in Divya Mangala Salagrama Roopam or Swayambu. The Jalasura is transformed as water to flow through the god’s feet in the cave from hundreds of years as it’s named as Jharana Narasimha swami temple. In this cave there is Shivalangam. This temple is also called as Jarani Narasimha swami temple, Narasimha zarani temple, temple Narasimha Jharana.
