Sri Subramanyam Swamy is the main deity of this temple, who is an incarnation of Lord Subramanyam. Here deity is facing in East direction, measures 8 feet in height and idol has four arms form with Vel in one hand, Vajrayudha in another hand one hand bestowing blessing and the other toughing its thighs.

Architecture
Shree Subramaniya swamy temple has 4 gopurams and main tower is a Gigantic Rajagopuram. Dwajasthambham is 70 feet tall and has a Golden flag pole. This temple was constructed with Kerala style of architecture and has a several inscriptions in Tamil. This temple has a pond and constructed with wood.
Religious Significance
Legend : There is a story that after building the temple, the Namboodiris were in search of a proper idol to consecrate here. One of them was ordered in the dream to go to Kayamkulam and visit a pond (there he was told that a garland would be floating at one spot and if he makes a search there, he would get the suitable idol). The Namboodiris went there and got an idol, which was installed in the temple with four arms.
History
Sri Subramanyam Swamy Temple was built in 1096 A.D by King Sree Chithira Thirunal Rama Varma and renovated in 20th Century. Travancore kings are the contributors for this temple.
Threat during invasions : Around a century back, making all the devotees sad the temple caught fire. Before catching the fire Malayalam year(Kolla Varsham) 1067 first installed the Golden Flag Pole. In order to protect it from the fire caught in 1096 it was cut down and kept in a safe place. The Koothambalam which is existing now is saved from the fire by the people. In that fire the temple was destroyed completely.
