Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a popular Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There are three main shrines in the temple the central shrine of this temple is that of Lakshmi Narayan and Ranchod Raiji. On the right there is an image of Radha Krishna with Swaminarayan in the form of Hari Krishna and the left has Vasudev, Dhamapita and Bhaktimata.

Dress Code

  • For men the dress code is Shirt & Trouser, Dhoti or Pyjamas with upper cloth.
  • For women the preferred dress code is saree or half-saree with blouse or chudidhar with pyjama and upper cloth.
  • Shorts, mini-skirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low-waist jeans and short-length T-shirts are not allowed.

  • Do respect ancient customs and co-piligrims while at temple.
  • Smoking and drinking is prohibited in this temple.
  • Chewing betel leaves, tobacco, gutka and spitting inside temple is strictly prohibited.

Architecture

The temple here is in the shape of a lotus, with nine domes in the inner temple. This temple having lotus shaped plinth is a rare architectural specimen. The nine domes on the temple adores the elevation of the temple. The temple was got constructed under the able guidance of Sadguru Shree Brahmanand Swami. The pillars of the temple bear colorful stone carvings. The construction work was completed within just fifteen months by the grace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The walls of the temple are decorated with colorful representations from the Ramayana.

History

The construction of this temple was completed within 15 months and the idols of Shri Laxminarayan Dev were installed by Swaminarayan himself on the 3rd of November 1824, amidst chants of Vedic hymns and devotional fervor of the installation ceremony.
