Architecture
Goddess Lakshmi Devi appeared to the village people and informed them to built a temple for the Lord Narayana. Then people informed this matter to their king and the king built a temple for lord Narayana and installed Lakshmidevi shrine at the Vayuvya corner and named as Bapatla Bhavanarayana swamy temple. The gopuram of the temple has sculpture of hindu gods and animals which measures to 75 feet in height, 25 feet width. Dwaja Stambham is placed infront of the Garbhagriha inside the temple. The Rajagopuram was built from a single rock. It is believed to be 1500 years old and some inscriptions on the wall are in Telugu script. This temple is constructed with Rock and Sand Stone.
History
This temple is of 1500 years old and belongs to Saliavahana Sakam 515. This temple was built during the reign of Chola King, Krimikanta Chola in the 5th century A.D. During this time Chola King installed Eight village deities on the eight corners of the Village. This temple received patronage from Gajapati Kings and then by Vijayanagara Kings. This temple was exploited by the Muslim Kings and then by British rulers. French rulers demolished the eight deities in the village. The present Village deity Poleramma was installed in the South direction by the devotees. This temple was built in 1465 A.D. by Krimikanta Chola, the temple was renovated by Diwan Sri Raja Kadrengula Jogi Jagannatha Rao & Raja Vasireddi Venkatadri in 1850 A.D. Cholas and Vijayanagara Kings are the major contributors for this temple.
