Architecture

Sri Somesawara Swamy temple has an ancient Dwajasthamba and the three tiered pillared structures forming the entrance to the temple, As we enter there is Dwajasthambam with Nandi at the top and Hanuman is there to the front of Dwajasthamba. This temple was constructed in Chalukyan style of architecture and the outer wall of the Vimana has a sculpture of Ananta Sayana. There are stone inscriptions of kings who have donated gold, cows, land etc., to the temple during the period 1070-1126 for nithya pooja and maintenance. Along the corridors you can see specimens of sculpture ranging from the 10th Century A.D. to the times of Kakatiyas.

Mandapams & Pillars : The pillars inside the main temple are ornate with rich, trademark sculpture of the Kakatiyas, note worthy are the miniature sculptures of stories from Ramayana and Dasavataras of Vishnu dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Four pillar mandap with Nandi is in front of Someshwara Temple.
