Lord Shiva is the main idol of this temple which is made of 'Rudraksha sila'. Here deity is facing in West direction and installed by Kara Asura (Thataka's brother).

Architecture

Thripallavoor Shiva Temple is facing in West direction and has a Pyramid-shaped entrance towers (gopuram). This temple was constructed in Kerala Style of architecture and has a Namaskara mandapa. A large four-sided stone wall surrounds the temple with an entrance on the southern side. The noteworthy feature is the high stone temple compound wall built with huge and neatly cut blocks of granite (6’x2’x2’) as mentioned above. This temple has some Wood carvings.

Religious Significance

The Pratishtha of this temple was done by Khara Maharishi. ( Khara was a demon and a great devotee of Lord Shiva ). When Khara Maharishi came down to visit the great Vishnu temple by the side of Gayathri river, he found three swayambhoo Shiva lingams. He did the pratishtha of the lingams at Tripaloor, Pallavur and Aiyloor.
