Architecture

The temple stands on a hillock, One has to climb over 150 Steps to reach the Sannidhi.  There are broad steps to climb up to this hill. At present, a ceiling has been set up over these steps for providing shadow to the climbing devotees. At downward slope of this hill is the Gopalswamy temple, in the eastern part. Vanappechi Amman temple is found in the western side. A tank called “Koneri Theertham” is at the foot of the hill. On the bank of this tank exists a statue of Lord Vinayaka of 12' height and 8' breadth.

Religious Significance

According to tradition, Lord of Seven hills came here for hunting and stayed here itself to take care of his devotees. The Mount is but Adishesha (divine snake) himself.

History

The temple is around 500 - 1000 years old.
