Architecture

This Temple has no Rajagopuram but temple has a typical Garbhagudi. History says that the temple was built 2000 years ago following the architecture of the temple and its architectures. The walls of the temple are covered with carvings of Lord Shiva. The architects Nayeepunyam are unique. Jamadagni Maha Muni had created a Pond near by temple which Thousands of Acers of land around this pond have been cultivating with this pond's water. It is said that Sri Krishna Devaraya has submitted the Panchaloha statues in the temple.

Religious Significance

Sri Krishna Devaraya of Vijayanagara Dynasty visited this temple before waginag a war on Kakatiyas. On his victory over Kakatiyas, He married there daughter Sri Varadarajamma and revisited to Sri Veerabhadraswamy temple with her. According to history, Sri Varadarajamma had renovated the pond and the dam was constructed on it. It is believed that while constructing or doing any biggest ponds or dam's it is necessary to give Bali to the goddess(Self Sacrifice). So, During the renovation of this pond, two persons named Chinna Cumbanna and Pedda Cumbanna come forward for giving Bali (Self Sacrifice). Thus the names Pedda Cumbum and Chinna Cumbum arrived.

History

This temple was built in 13th Century, Later in 13th - 14th centuries this temple was renovated.
