Religious Significance
According to ancient texts, Ravana had also captured Shani Dev with other planets. When Hanuman ji reached Lanka in search of Sita ji, then Ravan decided to burn Lanka after burning fire in the tail. Then he received a meeting with Saturn Dev and he requested to be protected. They also promised to help in the destruction of Ravana, then Hanuman ji rescued Shani Dev from Ravana's imprisonment. After that Shani Dev, who was weakened asked him for a safe place till he got the power again then Hanuman ji promoted him from this region by launching him from Lanka, since then this area is famous as Shanker Kshetra. The legend about this statue is that Hanuman ji released Shani Dev from Ravana's imprisonment and left him to rest here.
