Dress Code

  • For men the dress code is Shirt & Trouser, Dhoti or Pyjamas with upper cloth.
  • For women the preferred dress code is saree or half-saree with blouse or chudidhar with pyjama and upper cloth.
  • These rules are applicable for foreigners also. Shorts, mini-skirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low-waist jeans and short-length T-shirts are not allowed.
  • Pilgrims/visitors will not be allowed inside the temple if dress code is not followed.

Architecture

The temple has a three-tier Raja gopuram. Two inscriptions of King Rajaraja Chola and King Rajendra Chola period are found on this temple. Temple has Artha mandapam, Maha mandapam (with steps to reach) and Muga mandapam on the floor level. A granite carving of Shri Mahaveera with eight features placed in the Artha mandapam porch. A well called as Moondradi Koneru, was used by the nearby people in ancient times.

Religious Significance

The temple was built in 9th century A.D. and renovation work done in 17th century A.D.

History

This temple was contributed by Vijayanagara kings.
