Religious Significance

Prithvi Devju was a king of Ratanpur in olden times, the king was an ardent devotee of Hanuman. The king had leprosy and the king was disappointed by this. One night Hanumanji appeared in king dream. Hanumanji asked the king to build the temple. When the temple was completed, Hanumanji again came in the king's dream and Hanumanji ordered the king to remove his statue from Mahamaya Kund and install it in the temple. Waking up in the morning, King Mahamaya reached Kund, where he saw the statue of Lord Hanuman, it was in the female form. The king established the same female form of Lord Hanuman as per the Lord's order. After installing the statue of Hanuman, the king was freed from leprosy.

History

Raja Prithvi Dev, the Kalchuri King, built this temple in 1170.
