Architecture
Maa Kali as per Devi mahatmaya, killed chand and mund demons and thus Maa Kali receive name as Maa Chamunda. Devi Tulaja Bhavani temple situated on a 300-foot (91 m) hilltop, Tekri. A broad flight of stone steps leads to two shrines to the goddesses, Choti Mata (Chamunda Mata) and Badi Mata (Tulja Bhavani Mata). Numerous other temples spread over Tekri can be explored on foot.
Religious Significance
However it is said that the mother's organs had fallen on other Shaktipeeths of the country. But here the mother's blood was lying on the tecker. For this reason the mother Chamunda's father was here. Chamunda is believed to be in seven mothers. Tulja Bhavani was founded by the Marathi Raj families. This Kuldevi is considered to be the king of Marathi kings. Both of these mothers are mutual sisters. Bhartahar brother of Maharaj Vikramaditya has done penance here. They have been more than two thousand years.
History
The year in which the temple was built is unknown even though it is known that its existence dates centuries back. It was constructed by Taja Rajae who was the sister of erstwhile Gwalior ruler Madhavrao Scindia.
