Architecture

Ramappa Temple is facing in East direction and constructed in Chalukyan style of architecture. The walls of the temple showcase intricate carvings. At the entrance of Garbhagriha, you will see carvings on the walls, showcasing various dance forms as well as different musical instruments. Its ceiling consist of carvings, depicting scenes from Hindu epics Ramayana, Shiva Purana and various other ancient texts. Inscriptions carved on a square pillar of highly polished black basalt, standing in front of a square chatri to the North-East of the temple. The temple was constructed with Bricks.

  • The Ranga Mantapa (hall) measures 41 feet each way and has a square apartment (18'x18’) enclosed by four exquisitely carved pillars.

Pillars :

  • Even pillars and ceilings have been engraved beautifully. In front of the temple is consisted of many pillars with exquisite carvings.
  • Another aspect to notice in this temple is the pillars. Each pillar of the temple depicts sculptures and stories from mythology.

History

This temple was built in 1213 A.D. by Kakatiya King Ganapati Deva and Kakatiya's are the contributors.
