Religious Significance

It is said that before the temple, the castle was built but the idol had already been established and when any attempt to remove the idol from the place after the temple was built then no one can fail move the idol and the palace were transformed into a temple, it was named Ram Raja Mandir. In 1600 the queen of the then Bundela ruler Madhukar Shah, Maharani Kairyi Ganesh came to Ayodhya with the statue of Raja Ram from Ayodhya. One day the king asked his queen to walk in Vrindavan for Krishna worship but the queen, who had become a devotee of Rama did not want to leave her. The king also said in anger that if you are such a devotee of Shriram. If so then you bring them back, while staying in Ayodhya Rani built a cottage for himself near Laxman fort along the river Saryu and stayed in it and initiated the practice of Shriram. At that time Saint Shiromani Tulsidas was also engaged in meditation in Ayodhya. Tulsidas blessed the queen but even after doing long meditation the queen did not even see Rama. He got frustrated and jumped into the water flowing with the purpose of sacrificing his life in the river Sarayu. Within the depth of that water the queen went to Lord Rama and at the same time the queen asked Shriram to walk with him. At that time Lord Rama had laid a pretext to them that they will be rebuked only when their power will prevail in that state and the end of monarchy will end. Rani accepted this condition of Shriram and brought him along with him. From then on till now from the soldiers to the general public, Shriram is honored like Lord Ram but not like Lord Rama.
