Architecture

Sri Ranganayakaswamy Temple is facing in East direction and has a 3 tier Rajagopuram. Dwaja Stambham is placed infornt of Grabha Gudi. Temple was built on top of the hills, next to the temple, there is a natural spring, where water flows between the rocks for the whole year.

Religious Significance

According to a history of Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple during Tretayuga Sri Brahmarshi Viswamitra while he doing penance he has been disturbed by demon’s named Tataki, Maricha and Subahu. Then Brahmarshi along with Lord Sri Rama and Lakshmana killed those three demons. After killing those demon’s Brahmarshi did Pratistha of Sri Ranganatha Swamy statue. Later in Kaliyuga in the 14th century, the King Yerrama Timmaraju had known the information about the Pratistha of Sri Ranganatha Swamy statue by saints and the king started the construction of the temple. There were many temples in South India which were related to the period of Ramayana(Tretayuga), Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Alurukona is one among them.

History

This temple was constructed in 14th century A.D. by the King Yarrama Timmaraju who were the ruler in the time period of Sri Bukkaraya. Vijayanagara Dynasty kings are the contributors of this temple.
