Architecture

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple has a Raja Gopuram in this temple which is nearly 99 feet height with 7 Kalasa’s, Dwaja Stabham is placed inside Gopuram. This is the second highest Raja Gopura in Andhra Pradesh. This temple reflect’s the Sculpture and constructing styles of Chola kings. The Gopura of this temple was constructed by second Kulottunga Chola with great Sculpture with 7 Kalasa’s. The moola virat of this temple was installed by Lord Sri Rama in tretayuga it was known by legends which were engraved on stones (sasana’s) in this temple.

Religious Significance

According to Legends Avanigadda is the place where the great saint Sri Vasistha Maharshi Ashram is located, at this Ashram Goddess Sita Devi, learned Dharma Sasthra from Vasistha Maharshi. So this place was named as Avanijapuram. Later it is called as Avanigadda.

History

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy temple was built during the period of Chola kings in 1065 A.D., this temple was rebuilt in 1824 & 1977 year's Divisima storm was repaired in the 1990's after the collapse of the syringe. Cholas are the contributors of this temple.
