Architecture
The main entrance to the shrine has a multi-storeyed tower that faces eastward. As one enters the compound wall of the shrine, one is able to view a humongous dweepasthambam that is approximately 60 feet tall which is covered with wood and bronze. Closed by four stone figures viz., Sri Madbhagavathamu, Srimannarayana Avataram, Sriman Mahabharatam, and Srimad Ramayanam. This tower is said to glow at night time, making the temple look rather beautiful and regal. This temple was constructed in style of Vijayanagaran dynasty. Besides these beautiful towers, the shrine has a amazing mandapam which consists of forty pillars on which one can see the carvings of various Gods like Hanuman, Krishna, Lakshmi and some others along with their vehicles. Situated in the Kalyana Mandapam, one can see six musical pillars, each of which produces seven musical notes when they are tapped.
History
The shrine was erected by the kings belonging to the Vijayanagaran dynasty around 1405-1459 After death of Christ, scholars have come to this conclusion because every nook of the shrine denotes the architecture style that was used at the time of the Vijayanagar kings in it. This temple was built in 1113 A.D. and renovated by Reddi King Peruri Muktiraju. Vijayanagara Kings are contributed for this temple as a Shaivite Temple. During the region of Brahma Naidu, it was converted into a Vaishvanite Temple.
