Religious Significance
According to the legend, in Tretayuga Madhya was one of the demon in Lanka (now Sri Lanka). But he was an ardent devotee of Lord hanuman. As he was in enimies kingdom, he could not express his devotion on Lord hanuma. But Madya wanted to be the part of Lords Grace at least in this next birth. So he surrendered to Vanaras in the war of Rama and Ravana. Thus Madya blessed by Hanuman manifested himself in the maddi tree.
