Lord Jyotiba is main deity of this temple. Main deity the Jyotiba is formed from the souls of three Primary Gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Main deity of the temple is the form of ‘Shivlinga,’ also known as Kedareshwar. Besides, there is an idol of Yamai and Chopadai. The idol of Lord Jyotiba is four-armed.

Architecture

Jyotiba temple is situated at a height of 3124 feet above sea level and built in Black stone. The triangular domes of the temples are painted in shades of yellow while the main body and walls are built by same stone. One has to take 100 steps to reach the temple. This shrine is 57 ft x 37 ft x 77 ft high including the spire. The second temple of Kedareshwar is 49 ft x 22 ft x 89 ft high. The third temple of Ramling is 13 ft x 13 ft x 40 ft high including its dome. The interior of the temple is ancient and there are other few temples and Light-towers in the premises.

Religious Significance

It is believed that when the evil demon Ratnasur was terrorising the region, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma decided to take one form and kill the demon. Lord Jyotiba was born to Vimalmbuja, the wife of sage Pougand on Chaitra Shukla. He helped Goddess Mahalakshmi in destroying Ratnasur and founded his kingdom from this very mountain. He is also believed to have destroyed Raktabhoj, the demon.

Mythology says, Jotiba helped Mahalaxmi in her fight with the demons. He founded his kingdom on this mountain. He belongs to the Nath cult and He was born in the hands of Vimalmbuja, the wife of the sage Pougand, on Chaitra Shukla.

History

Jyotiba temple was built in 1730 A.D. Renovation completed in 1808 A.D. This temple built by Ranoji Shinde. At first a small jotoba temple where build in 1730 by the devotee named Naavji. He was from village kival near Karad. Maharaja Ranoji Shinde of Gwalior renovated the original temple in a grand temple built with fine black basalt stone. Later other two temples where build along side to the original one, by other devotee’s. The kedareshvar temple is particularly standing without pillars, And was built about 155 years ago in 1808 by Doulatrao Shinde. There is chopdai Temple present in between Kedarling and Kedareshvar temple which is built by Pritirao Chavan, Himmatbahadur in 1750. So particularly this is a group of three temples. The 4th Temple of Goddess Rameshwari has built in 1780 by Malji Nikam, Panhalakar. In front of Kedareshvar, on a small square platform, there are two nandi’s in black stone. This is also installed by Daulatrao Shinde.
