Architecture
Sri Ekaambareswarar temple faces East direction with 7 tiered Raja Gopuram. On the right side pillar before the sanctum of Lord Siva is ‘Siva Anjaneyar’, Adorning Him with silver-colored silk thread (zari) and with the tulsi garland and a 16 pillared mandapam is in between inner and outer prakaram. The temple koneru is named as Sivaganga Theertham.
Religious Significance
Long ago, a devotee was a deep bhaktha of Ekambareswarar at Kanchipuram. Once when he wanted to go to the temple on a ‘pradosham’ day, there were many obstacles. Because there was a delay in his work, his employer also stopped him going to the temple. In spite of all these troubles, the devotee went to the temple. He became tired on the way and took rest for some time in this holy place. At that time Lord Siva and Ambal appeared before him and said “ You need not come such a long way to worship me. I am there as a Swayambu in that place where you’ve taken rest. Hereafter, you can worship me here.” History says that this temple was built here after that incident.
History
The temple was built in 1680's by Alanganatha Pillai.
