Architecture
1000 Pillar Temple is considered to be a masterpiece of Vishwakarma Sthapathis of Kakatiya kingdom. Thousand Pillar Temple has been built in the architectural style similar to Chalukyan temples. It is said to be named after the King Rudra Deva and hence is known as Sri Rudreshwara Swamy Temple. In the temple, 1000 Pillars in the structures but no pillar obstruct a person in any point of the temple to see the god in another temple. The first name of the temple Rudreswara temple. By the name of 1000 Pillars this temple called as 1000 pillars Temple. The sculpture of the temple is excellent and wonderful. Here 3 garbhalayas in the temple and Here Nandi built with Black Basalt. There are three idols, Lord Shiva, Suryabhagavan and Lord Vishnu were installed in 3 Garbhagruhas. This is called as Trikutalaya” formation. This temple is star-shaped with Several Shrines and Lingams.
History
This temple was built in 12th century by Rudra Deva and renovated by Government of India in 2004. Kakatiya's and Chalukya's are the contributors of this temple. The Thousand pillar temple was destroyed by Tughlaq dynasty, a Muslim dynasty of Turkic origin, during their invasion of South India.
