Architecture

The temple was constructed in two parts standing independently, the temple does not have any Shikhara and that is the reason why the temple is called "Nakata mandir" or incomplete mandir. This temple was facing in East direction and in front of temple there is a big Pond name Bhima Talab. There are two artistic pillars on either side of the sanctum sanctorum, which gives the impression that the Mahamandapa was built in front of the temple in olden times. On the walls of the temple the statue of God and Goddess, the temple is built of red clay bricks. The shikhara of the temple is like a chariot and the temple is built on a high jagati or paitha. Statues with beauty and ornamentation are located around the temple. There are no idols in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and among the ten incarnations of Ganga, Jamuna, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Ravana and Vishnu in the ornamentation statues built around the temple. We get to see. Here we get 10-15 scenes of the most Ramayana, which are very magnificent and wonderful artistic.

Religious Significance

According to a story it is said that the construction of this Vishnu temple and Shivrinarayan temple There was a competition for Chhamasi night in which Lord Narayana announced that the temple which will be built first will be seated in it. The temple of Shivrinarayan was completed first, so he sat in it and this temple remained incomplete forever. According to another story, the Shiva temple at Pali is also included in this competition and the Shiva temple located near this temple is considered as the upper part of it. Apart from this, another story which is quite popular is associated with Mahabali Bhima. According to which Bhima had excavated the Bhima Talab located here and he is called the sculptor of this temple. According to this story Bhima And once a night there was a temple building competition in Vishwakarma. Then Bhima started the construction work of this temple. During the construction of the temple, when Bhima's chisel hammer fell down, his elephant brought it back. But one time Bhima's hammer fell in the pond which the elephant could not bring and became dawn. Bhima was very sad to lose the competition and threw two pieces of elephant into the same pond. Thus the temple remained unfinished and no idol was established here. Even today, Bhima and elephant statue can be seen here. History

This temple was built by the Kalchuri king Jazvalay Dev-I in about 11 century A.D.
