Architecture
The Shiva linga in this place (Biccavolu) was worshipping by cows doing abhisheka with milk daily.Thus Lord here got the name Sri Golingeswara Swamy. This temple is facing in South direction. The rich carvings on the temple walls and Gopuras were built in with Dravidian architecture and the Vimana above the Garbha Gruha contains a row of pillars and row of beams that ends at its base. The front portion of Mukha Mantap was built in 1964 A.D. One more Mantap was built in the year 1966 A.D. In the middle of which a bronze Idol of Horse was placed. The idol inside the Sanctum Sanctorum is made of black granite.

According to the history of this place,Biccavolu is a village having 108 temples which were built by the Turpu Chalukya King Narendra Mrugaraju who was the father of Vikramaditya the great emperor during the 8th century. The King Narendra Mrugaraju did 108 wars and killed many soldiers, to get released from that sin Narendra Mrugaraju build 108 temples on the bank of Holy Godavari temple.Among those 108 temples, some are destroyed by Turushka's and some are destroyed by nature. 3 temples are now able to see the out cuts of Biccavolu village. Sri Subrahmanyeswara & Golingeswara Swamy temples are located at the center of the Biccavolu village. After Toorpu Chalukya's Biccavolu region came under the ruling of Peddapuram Maharaja's.
History
This temple is built in 849 to 892 A.D by King Gunaga Vijayaditya III of Eastern Chalukyas and Peddapuram Maharaja's are contributed for this temple.
