Religious Significance
According to the Puranas, In Dwaparayuga one day Duryodhana invited Pandava brothers to participate in Gambling. Sakuni had Spiritual power by his father. The both Parties (Kauravas and Pandavas) Started gambling. But with the spiritual power of Sakuni’s father Duryaadhana got the victory. According to the game rule Pandava brothers should leave their Kingdom for 12 Years and spend 1 Year Unknowingly. Total period should be 13 Years. So Pandavas left their Kingdom and started to visit several places in India. On their way to Rameswaram, they stayed some years in Peddapuram on hill area. They arranged a tunnel way to Rajamundry from this hill. They prayed Suryanarayana Swamy and built a temple to Suryanarayana Swamy on the hill rock. So the hill area called as Pandavula Metta.
